Background :Zinc finger protein 800: DNA-binding transcription repressor that acts as a master repressor of enteroendocrine cell differentiation . Acts upstream of the endocrine gene network and directly represses expression of enteroendocrine transcription factors, such as NEUROG3, INSM1 and SOX4 . In the intestine, prevents enterochromaffin cell differentiation by repressing expression of PAX4, a transcription factor that drives differentiation of enterochromaffin cell and restricts differentiation of other intestinal enteroendocrine cell types . Also involved in the differentiation and development of type B pancreatic cells (By similarity)
