Background :F-box only protein 24: Substrate recognition component of an SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex that mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins. Specifically recognizes the deacetylated form of nucleoside diphosphate kinase A/NME1 and targets it for ubiquitin-mediated degradation . Functions as a key regulator of cell proliferation by targeting PRMT6 for ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, leading to cell cycle inhibition . Also mediates 'Lys-6'-linked polyubiquitination of the mitochondrial S-adenosylmethionine transporter SLC25A26, targeting it for degradation and thereby maintaining mitochondrial function during spermiogenesis (By similarity).
