Background :Salbutamol (albuterol) is a short-acting selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist used clinically as a bronchodilator for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Like clenbuterol, it is sometimes illegally used as a growth promoter in livestock, and antibody-based assays are employed for its residue monitoring in food products.
